Whew! Disability masquerade

It’s something. I was checking out the Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 CD compiled by Lenny Kaye. The CD pulls together bands that are just pre-psychedelic and are often called garage bands. It’s was influential in the punk era and beyond.

Anyway, the Elastic Band has a song on the CD, Spazz. I got to hear it on their MySpace page, www.myspace.com/elastikband. When I opened their page Spazz started playing. The opening sounds like someone with CP who has a severe speech limitation. After that the song starts. I was so surprised at the opening I felt like my head was going explode for a second there. The song is very strange musically and either “viciously taunting a spastic” Answers.com, or “this funny, psychedelic, bordering-on-Dr. Demento-silly tune about the krazy effects of LSD” Kate Silver’s blog.

Whatever. You can hear the song and judge for yourself at MySpace .
